I was a self-taught photographer for many years. However, I began working to improve my craft in 2009. I attended classes at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan to learn more about my camera so that I exclusively use my camera on the manual setting.

In 2015 I was accepted into an “All Michigan All Media Art Show” for my photographic collage titled “The World War II of Jack A. Drew”; this was a juried event at the Shiawassee Art Center in Owosso, Michigan.
In 2015, I was also accepted into an art competition/fund raiser for “Art For Charlie” with an exhibit at the MSU Broad Art Museum in East Lansing, MI. They accepted two of my art pieces: “A Distracting Abstraction” and “Life’s Ups and Downs.”
Exhibits: with the Mid-Michigan Art Guild, the Second Monday Artists, my own exhibit at the East Lansing Public Library, Schuler Books in Okemos, Lansing and Grand Rapids; ArtPrize in Grand Rapids seven times.

Online Publishing: An article featuring a poem my Dad wrote in WWII, along with a photo of my collage and an article about my Dad and me.
In 2017, examples of my art were juried and printed in the “Kunst Heute”, an award-winning book in Germany.
2010 ArtPrize: ArtPrize is the biggest art competition in the world and takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. There are 1600 artists from all over the world who compete for a total of $500,000. In my first ArtPrize experience, I exhibited “Calm Cecropia” [photography on aluminum] with the Grand Valley Artists on Division Avenue.
2011 ArtPrize: I exhibited at the Lyon Den with “Michigan’s Infinite Beauty”,
2013 ArtPrize: I exhibited at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum with four photographs printed on aluminum of the Grand Canyon.
2014 ArtPrize: I exhibited at Oppenheimer & Co. in the first west window, facing north with “The World War II of Jack A. Drew”, a collage I created from my Father’s original WWII items. It was printed on a 4’ x 4’ canvas and was well received from visitors I greeted.
Articles about my collage, my Father and me were written in the Lansing State Journal and mLive.com.
In 2016 this art was purchased by Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan and now hangs in the Veterans’ Memorial area.
2015 ArtPrize: I exhibited at the Women’s City Club with an abstract titled, “A Distracting Abstraction.” It was 5’x5’ in size and was a triptych grouping of three photographs of a spiral staircase [a fire escape] that I took in Sweden. I converted it to high contrast and had it printed with black ink on three bare aluminum sections; a heavy gloss was then applied.
2016 ArtPrize: I was invited to exhibit at the Fifth Third Bank/Warner Norcross & Judd LLC venue. My entry was a joint project with my husband, Carl Brown, who did the welding for it. I designed this project, which was the upper, and Lower Peninsula of Michigan welded out of steel and painted black. I then hung eighty-five of my nature photos printed on 5” x 5” aluminum squares to cover the metal sculpture in its entirety.
2017 ArtPrize: I exhibited at Panera Bread Restaurant in Grand Rapids, Michigan for my seventh ArtPrize experience. I entered five aluminum prints and hung them in a collage form on the wall. The pictures were taken in Page, Arizona of the Antelope Canyon. This slot canyon offered a variety of abstract shots with beautiful colors as the sun reached down into the cracks in the sandstone crust.
2009-2018: Exhibit on display at Schuler Books in Okemos, MI. In 2016, the management that privilege changed to being a solo artistt.
2018 December: Exhibit at the MSU Community Music School; three former ArtPrize entries are on exhibit there.
2018: ongoing exhibits around the Lansing, Michigan area.
2018: Exhibit of my four Grand Canyon prints that were on display at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in 2013-2016 at a local restaurant in Haslett, MI.
2017 October: a JPEG of “The WWII of Jack A. Drew” was accepted by ArtShare Michigan, participating with Michigan State University a digital collection of art that will be on the road to share art with children in schools from third to fifth grade.
2015-2017 May: Participation in a community artists’ show at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility; volunteered for several years as a visiting artist.
2016 October: Exhibits as a solo artist at Schuler Books in Okemos, Michigan at the Meridian Mall.
2016 May: participated in MMAG Member Show at the Okemos Public Library in Okemos, MI
2016 Mar.: Invitation to join the Lansing Area Artist Community [LAAC], a group of respected artists in the Greater Lansing, Michigan area. Art is on display at the Mid-Michigan Physicians’ Building on Lake Lansing Road in Lansing, MI and other venues upon invitation.

2015 May: at Gracie’s Bistro in Williamston, MI; 2014 WWII collage was on exhibit for a month.
2015 May: at the East Lansing Art Festival, Artists from the MMAG shared art with the public such as photography demos and painting demos to visitors at the Festival.
2015 June: Shiawassee Art Center in Owosso, MI, a small version of 2015 ArtPrize entry was juried and exhibited for a month.
2015 Oct-Dec: ArtPrize entry and another aluminum print were accepted by the Broad Art Museum curator for an art competition/fund raiser for “Art For Charlie.” On display at the College of Law, MSU from Nov. 4th-Dec. 7th.
2015 Oct/Nov/Dec: Exhibit on display at ArtShare headquarters in E. Lansing, MI.
2007-current: I became a member of the Lansing, Michigan area Mid-Michigan Art Guild [MMAG]; later, I joined the board and became the chairman of the Judge procurement committee. As a member of MMAG, received many awards over the years, including Best of Show, Award of Excellence, Third Place, Honorable Mentions and Certificates of Merit.
2006-Close of 2nd Monday Artists: I became involved with the Second Monday Artists group; I was on the planning committee for many years. I participated in many exhibits that we had over the years.
